A Design-Driven Collaboration Down Under
In early 2025, Aksata Rattan was approached by a boutique resort on the Gold Coast, Australia, seeking a furniture partner that could deliver custom rattan furniture in line with their nature-inspired brand. This project became a showcase of how our team turned ideas into fully realized, export-ready hospitality furnishings—from initial sketches to on-site installation.
1. Client Needs: Natural Materials, Modern Comfort
The resort envisioned a modern retreat that blends the coastal Australian lifestyle with handcrafted furniture that felt authentic and grounded.
Their brief included:✅ Earth-tone aesthetic using natural materials✅ Furniture that blends indoor-outdoor fluidity✅ Custom sizing for villas, dining areas, and poolside decks✅ Durability for high guest turnover and UV exposure✅ Export support with documentation and shipping to Queensland
2. Our Furniture Solutions
After receiving moodboards and layout drawings, our design team collaborated with the resort’s interior consultant to develop a cohesive rattan furniture collection, which included:
✔ Villa Interiors
Arched rattan headboards with matching bedside stools
Kyoto-style lounge chairs in neutral tones
Woven pendant lighting for warm ambient spaces
✔ Outdoor Terraces
UV-resistant synthetic rattan sunloungers
Foldable bistro sets for small decks
All-weather cushions with quick-dry foam
✔ Restaurant & Lounge
Stackable dining chairs with teak frames
Long communal tables (rattan base, solid teak top)
Hanging lamps in wave-form rattan weaving
All pieces were adapted to suit Australian building codes and commercial-grade wear.
3. The Process: From Sketch to Shipping
🛠️ Prototype & Sampling
We developed 3D visuals and material mockups for the client’s approval. Samples were shipped in advance to confirm design, color, and ergonomics.
🧵 Production
Over 500 units were handcrafted across 8 weeks, including furniture for 16 guest villas, 1 restaurant, and 2 pool decks. Real-time production photos and QC updates were shared with the client weekly.
🚢 Logistics & Documentation
We handled:
Export packaging (with barcodes & stickers)
SVLK (legal wood verification)
Fumigation, ISPM-15 pallets
Packing list, COO, and commercial invoice
All containers were shipped via Surabaya – Brisbane route, with a clear delivery timeline for installation coordination.
4. Why the Client Chose Aksata Rattan
“We couldn’t find this level of personalization, material knowledge, and responsiveness anywhere else. Aksata delivered beyond expectations.”— Project Coordinator, Gold Coast Resort
The resort selected us based on our:
Experience in hospitality-grade rattan
Customization flexibility (color, size, materials)
Export expertise to Australia
Strong communication and ethical production approach
5. The Result: A Seamless Integration of Nature and Design
Each villa now welcomes guests with warm, handwoven furniture that reflects Australian nature with Indonesian soul. The resort has since expanded their order for their second property in Byron Bay.
Photos of this project are now part of our hospitality portfolio, helping inspire other global buyers looking for reliable rattan sourcing with story-driven design.
